Historic Preservation Technical Specialist

NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation:   Division for Historic Preservation- Historic Preservation Technical Specialist

The Division’s Technical Services Unit is responsible for providing technical services for the restoration, rehabilitation and preservation of privately and publicly owned historic properties, including buildings, structures, landscapes and objects. Incumbent provides comments on the effects of federal or state undertakings on the historic built environment in accordance with federal and New York state regulations. Applicant must have a thorough understanding of the application of the National Register of Historic Places criteria for evaluation and the application and interpretation of the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. In addition, the candidate should be versed in Federal Historic Preservation Tax Incentives program.

Research Assistant Position at SDC in Richmond, VA

SDC (Sustainable Design Consulting) has immediate need for a Research Assistant degreed in and having some experience in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, or other fields related to the building industry. This position provides a wide variety of technical, project, and general support functions to staff in a fast-paced, specialized, and focused environment.

Candidates must have a basic familiarity with and strong interest in green building concepts and the LEED Green Building Rating System and must be proficient in reading architectural drawings. Candidates must be proficient in MS Office programs and Internet research. The successful candidate must demonstrate ability to attain the LEED Green Associate credential within six months of date of employment and the LEED professional accreditation with Specialty within 12 months of first day of employment, if not already accredited. Candidates must demonstrate strong initiative, organizational and time management skills, and flexibility.

CJMW Architecture, Lynchburg VA

CJMW Architecture is seeking an Architectural Intern for our office in downtown Lynchburg, VA.   Full-time ideal but will consider summer or shorter term internships.

Candidates should possess experience or an interest in historic, higher education, cultural and healthcare projects.  We are looking for an individual who enjoys collaboration and teamwork, and who can demonstrate design talent, strong communication skills, and solid technical knowledge.  The Intern will be responsible for assisting senior architects in design, production, construction administration and project management.

Ideal candidates will have a professional degree in architecture, and a minimum two years experience working in an architect’s office. Candidates shall be proficient with AutoCAD, ArchiCad, SketchUp, and InDesign and possess strong rendering and presentation skills.
