Fall 2018 Cultural Heritage Fellowship

The ACHP, in conjunction with the Smithsonian’s Office of Fellowships and Internships is excited to announce we are now accepting applications for our Fall 2018 Cultural Heritage Fellowship.
 
The Smithsonian is pleased to have the Anacostia Community Museum (ACM) on board for this year’s fellowship with the theme: Heritage of the District of Columbia.  Prospective candidates should have an interest in cultural or historic preservation; and local DC candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Kearns & West seeks a Project Coordinator or Associate in their Portland, OR office. Responsibilities:
– Perform pre-planning site analysis, recording relevant site measurements, topography, drainage,and plant material identification.
– Develop base plan documents, transcribing data from site analysis and client provided details.
– Work with key staff to prepare initial design studies, and landscape presentation documents.
– Provide planning document take off calculations for job cost analysis.
– Prepare collection of design and cost analysis documents for client presentation meetings.
– Join principle team member at client presentation meetings, to assist in presentation and record key notes from discussions.
– Must be willing to work extended hours, when requested, to meet deadlines and seasonal demands.
– Collaborate with other designers to manage schedules and create successful projects.
– Assist with Project Management duties that include securing contract materials, facilitating pre job site meetings with crew supervisors, project progress reporting, and client communications.
– Work alongside and assist crew supervisors with project layout and be responsible for oversight of select project components. This position requires a strong willingness to work outside, for multiple days at times, to ensure a finished project of exceptional quality.
Experience:
– Clear proficiency in hand rendering and hand lettering of design documents.
– 3 to 5 years of creative and artistic design experience. Must have a demonstrable proficiency in spatial planning, and in the thoughtful use of color, form, and texture.
– Practical understanding of landscape construction, installation, and maintenance principles.
– Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Design suite.
– Have a valid driver’s license and up-to-date smartphone.

– The starting hourly rate for the Ecological Landscape Designer position, as described, is based on the level of skill and talent that you are able to demonstrate. $20 per hour to $34 per hour for the top talent. This includes 7 days paid vacation the first year along with paid holidays. Top talent may be offered profit sharing.

Located in downtown Portland, Oregon, Anderson Krygier, Inc. (AK) provides landscape
architecture, ecological analysis, and experiential graphic design services. The firm’s
principals are both landscape architects who are building a collaborative team that

Job Summary
We are ready to hire a landscape designer with excellent design and technical skills. This

Your Role
• Assisting with all stages of landscape architectural design development

• High level of proficiency in design software programs, including; AutoCAD Civil 3D, Adobe Suite, Rhino, Grasshopper, Sketch-up and Revit. In lieu of software experience in Rhino and Revit, a demonstrated aptitude with interest in learning may be acceptable.
• Knowledge of design, master planning, construction materials, techniques and specifications

I’m looking to fill the position above.  I’m really interested in someone who has experience or training as an architect as the basis of their preservation studies.  The position is available starting in the beginning of July, which I know is quick, but we are willing to wait to have the right person fill the position.    Salary is 47,476 to 70,014 DOQ
