Director of the Emilio Ambasz Institute and Curator


The Museum seeks a Director of the Emilio Ambasz Institute who will also serve as a Curator, joining the curatorial team in the Museum’s Department of Architecture and Design, and reporting directly to the department’s Phillip Johnson Chief Curator of Architecture and Design.

As the inaugural Director of the newly established Institute, the successful candidate develops, leads, and implements the Institute’s manifold research initiatives through a range of programs, including exhibitions, public lectures, conferences and symposia, seminars, and publications on a variety of digital platforms. The Institute intends to address a diverse, global audience through a multitude of digital channels and offerings, and hence the Director should be particularly interested in developing innovative programs for digital outreach. Specific responsibilities include curatorial leadership of exhibition programs, including an inaugural exhibition on the emergence of green architecture (scheduled for 2023); fiduciary oversight of the Institute, including all annual financial reporting on the Institute’s use of funds; active contribution to the conversation and programs of the Department of Architecture and Design; collaboration with Museum departments and initiatives focused on ecology and sustainability; and partnership with external entities dedicated to ecological restoration and justice. The Director will be supported in the role by an administrative assistant, who will be hired by the successful candidate upon arrival at the Museum.

Additionally, within the scope of curatorial responsibilities, the Director will help to develop a strategy for the collection and future acquisitions that deal with sustainability.

Intermediate Designer/Architect – Colloqate Design

Established in 2017, Colloqate Design is an emerging multidisciplinary Design Justice practice focused on expanding community access to, and building power through, the design of social, civic, and cultural spaces. Our mission is to intentionally organize, advocate, and design spaces of racial, social, and cultural equity.

We have an immediate need for a talented and driven Intermediate Designer/Architect with experience in civic, cultural, educational and municipal projects. First and foremost, the designer must share the team’s unwavering commitment to racial and social justice and belief in the power of design to transform community experience. Additionally, the most competitive candidates for the position will have the following: You should be creative, hardworking and have a minimum of 5 years of job experience with strong design and technical software drawing skills. Capable of leading a project from start to finish. Extensive experience with Revit in a professional setting is a requirement. The position requires strong communication skills, time management, and multi-tasking skills as our ideal candidate will lead the design and execution of multiple projects creatively and technically in all phases, from conceptualization to construction administration. While we are flexible to a remote position, we prefer that the applicant be open to move to New Orleans if not in the city, presently.

SALARY RANGE:

$45-52K plus benefits (Healthcare, 401k)

DFA Operations Coordinator

The Role:
As the DFA Team Coordinator, you help support the day-to-day National team with
studio operations and work directly with colleagues, partners, students, and faculty
members to provide top-notch services. This is a new role. Your initiative enables this
fast-paced team to work more efficiently and effectively. You will help define the

What you’re responsible for:

Planning Department Internships Summer 2021

The San Francisco Planning Department is currently looking for sixteen (16) bright and enthusiastic interns to work full time with staff on a variety of planning projects this summer (June 7, 2021 thru Aug. 27, 2021). Coen+Partners is seeking multiple landscape architects and urban designers, from early-career to senior-level experience, for full time, or long-term contract positions in support of a wide range of regional and global projects. Commonwealth Coastal & Marine Policy Fellowship

Fellowship Description

The Commonwealth Coastal & Marine Policy Fellowship is sponsored by Virginia Sea Grant (VASG) and the Virginia Environmental Endowment (VEE), as well as the participating host offices. Modeled after the highly successful national Sea Grant Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship, the goal of the fellowship is to develop and support exceptional post-graduates by partnering them with a host office mentor where they receive on-the-job training and hone their professional skills, while improving the stewardship of the Commonwealth’s coastal and marine resources. The program also aims to increase the capacity of the host offices by supporting fellows who are working on mission-relevant programs, and leveraging the knowledge and capacity of Virginia’s academic institutions.

VASG is currently recruiting host offices among local and state government agencies, and non-government organizations (NGOs). As an example, previous offices that have participated in the matching process include Virginia’s Department of Environmental QualityDepartment of Conservation and RecreationMarine Resource Commission, and Office of the Secretary of Natural Resources, as well as the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission and The Nature Conservancy’s Virginia Coast Reserve. Previous fellows worked on a range of issues including: the Commonwealth of Virginia’s resilience initiatives, total maximum daily load and water pollution, shoreline erosion, policy improvements for water quality impairments, coastal community resilience, coordinating environmental document reviews and comments, implementation of electronic permitting, and blue crab fisheries management.


Eligibility

Graduate students close to completing their degree (Master’s, Ph.D., or J.D.) in a coastal- or marine-related or relevant field (broadly defined, e.g., natural or social sciences, engineering and design, policy and legal analysis, planning, architecture, business, education, arts and the humanities, etc.) at a Virginia university or college are eligible to apply. Recent graduates who completed their graduate, professional degree or Ph.D. program at a Virginia university or college, graduating in the spring semester 2020 or after, are also eligible. Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest and some experience in coastal or marine resource policy and management (e.g., course work, internships, independent study, etc.). Fellows must complete all degree requirements prior to starting the fellowship.

The fellowship sponsors and hosts are committed to building inclusive research, extension, communication, and education programs that serve people with diverse backgrounds, circumstances, needs, perspectives, and ways of thinking. Award Information

VASG and VEE anticipate supporting two to three post-graduate fellows for the 2021 Commonwealth Coastal & Marine Policy Fellowship. The length of the fellowship assignment is 12 months and is nonrenewable. The start date for the fellowship is October 1, 2021. All Commonwealth Coastal & Marine Policy Fellows who are placed in a host office are employees of W&M. Each fellow receives a salary of $35,000 for the 12-month assignment, and $5,000 for critical expenses (e.g., insurance, if needed) and professional development activities (e.g., travel, registration, or other expenses to participate in conferences, workshops, VASG-sponsored professional development training, etc.).


Tentative Fellowship Competition Timeline

  • Fellowship announcement released: November 2020
  • Applications due to VASG by 5:00 p.m. Eastern: April 23, 2021
  • Virtual interviews: June 2021
  • Notification of finalists: July 2021
  • Selected finalists interview with host offices: July-August 2021

Landscape Architect/Landscape Designer Position

Landschop seeks a landscape architect or landscape designer with 2-6 years of professional experience to join our emerging studio in Falmouth, MA.  We are a landscape architecture studio, designing inspired, beautiful, enduring places that adapt to the effects of our changing climate.  The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial mindset, ability to hit the ground running in a startup environment, and capability with all aspects of the design process.  Your unique background, knowledge, and perspective are important to us as we seek to build a diverse team.

Qualifications:

·        MLA and/or BSLA from an accredited program.

·        Minimum two years of experience working in a studio environment.

·        Interest and coursework in design for climate change mitigation and adaptation.

·        Passion for planting design, and existing knowledge in or willingness to learn about the ecology and plant communities of New England.

·        Ability to produce accurate, detailed construction documents.

Compensation: The minimum salary for this position will be $55,000, increasing based on candidate experience.

About us:
